You know Snapchat, right? The awesome app that lets you send compromising photos and videos to everyone only to have them vanish and never seen again?
Well the Venice, California-based company is debuting its first hardware called “Spectacles”. The $129.99 video-capturing sunglasses will be able to record up to 10 second videos and wirelessly post them to Snapchat and its user’s phone. The awesome part is the videos will have a 115-degree angle, which is similar to the human’s field of view. A simple click on the hinge of the frames and one can record whatever they are looking at.
The awesome tech will be in limited supply and only one size and three colors: coral, black, and teal.
Let’s hope these aren’t a flop like Google Glass.
Snap, as its being rebranded, has 150 million daily active users and recently closed a $1.8 billion funding round based on a $18 billion evaluation.
That’s a crap ton of money.
Regardless, if I can, I think I’m going to get my hands on the Spectacles. Snapchat is one of the few apps that have kept my attention continually since I’ve downloaded it and would love to see how they integrate it into glasses. Also, I could make a kickass private detective.
